Buying vintage clothing takes a keen and experienced eye. It is a skill that can help you get pieces that you and others will adore for years. It is extremely wise to invest in vintage clothing as they are not only worth more in value, but as fashionable as they are back in there era, they are today and will be in the future. Vintage looks will guarantee you a unique look.

Here are some tips in buying vintage clothing:

  • Buy vintage in person rather than online you can can get a feel of what you are really buying
  • Know what era you are buying from and the designers of that era
  • Never buy a stained garment
  • Always check for stains and holes
  • If it is an investment piece, always buy the best that your money can buy
  • Ask for tips when it comes to cleaning
  • Know the measurements as sizes from the past do not correlate with today’s sizes
  • Buy color rather then black and white

Descriptions of fashion for each era:

1920s: This is the beginning of the couture  era. From flappers dresses, furs, fringes beads and velvets, you can catch this during this era.

1930s: This is the time of costume jewelry, halter dresses, skinny suits, and flared sleeves. This era is all about the detail.

1940s: All about the military clothing. From trench coats, jersey dresses, slacks, sequins, and military style clothing.
